Creators not consumers
At Kardinia we are creators not consumers. We have a sustainability and resources officer who works closely with our team to ensure we are using equipment that is resourceful and reusing where ever possible.
Acknowledging the fragile state of our world, our programs support children to care for their environment and to understand the responsibility they have to reduce, re-use and recycle. We nurture physical spaces that honour the natural world and allow for children to get dirty, use real tools and be part of the construction of learning spaces.
You’ll find the Food Exchange Cart in our front car park every day we’re open for our families, so feel free to take what you need and give what you can. It’s an amazing opportunity for children to get hands on in the growing process; challenging them to explore, investigate and discover many facets of nature.
Very rarely in modern society do we get the opportunity to give without the expectation of gaining anything in return!
We hope that by finding different ways to connect with our community we can enhance everyone’s wellbeing and sense of belonging.
And hey, there’s no better way of getting children interested in eating vegetables than when they’ve grown them themselves!
In the spirit of respect, Kardinia Childcare and Kindergarten recognises the Aboriginal Peoples of Australia as the Traditional Custodians of the Land. We pay our respects to them, their culture and their Elders past, present and future
